Frenemies

Let’s talk about friendship. *HUGS* Or not… The thing I noticed about my history of friends is that I always would cluster in groups of three growing up. I’d always end up apart of a trio and it would be like “oh look at them, they’re the three musketeers.”

This would usually happen because I’d find one friend and they’d have another friend and the three of us would end up hanging out. But what almost always would happen is, I’d become closer with my original friend’s friend and we’d ween out this extra person over time. I don’t know why but it has happened in elementary, middle and high school.

And what always ends up being a coincidence, that me and this other person become closer friends, turns into sheer hate. “You ever notice how Melissa is so fuckin’ ghetto.” “Why is Katy’s nose so goddamned big, I know you can’t pick your own nose, but christ! And her nipples are always hard, what the fuck is up with that?!”

What I half-noticed and I could be wrong, is this: When you’re a girl (and perhaps a gay guy) everything is something. By that, I mean, everything about you is another clue to the Mystery that is HATE. You are guilty until proven innocent.

With dudes, one thing is something and that one thing becomes the thing that you identify in your friend. Like, oh this is my friend that is kind of a loser or this is my friend that is a close talker.

I am obviously making generalizations here. But it seems as if girls/gays keep people with personality traits they don’t like around because they can talk about them behind their back. Guys can keep annoying people around because they can make fun of them to their face in jest.

This may have something to do with girls, just generally being more insecure. You cannot just say “Katy what a large nose you have, LOL,” and not hurt anyone’s feelings. Joking about things is a good way to get shit off your chest, I think. Funny, is always grounded in truth, so it’s like venting.

It’s unfortunate girls don’t think there’s anything funny about being a girl! It’s all rape and shoe sales with us!

I mean, Frenemies is a word for a reason, right? Mean Girls was a hit. And in all my hesitation to quote Dane Cook or perhaps quote Dane Cook quoting someone else, there is always a friend that nobody likes.

No one is perfect, but there’s always someone extra less perfect. What usually happens is you kind of feel bad, like, oh well they’re still a good person, so and so isn’t a bad guy. Then after a while they start to grate on you. With that said:

THE TRUTH MUST COME OUT! THE FAT LADY MUST SING! AND MILEY CYRUS MUST TAKE SEXY PIX ON HER CELLPHONE!

‘Cause let’s face it sister. In a group of friends, there’s no such thing as secrets.
